To build up your speed when running, try rocketing the velocity of your pace rather than the length of your stride. Your foot should be aligned under your body when running, not in front of it. Proper propulsion should be achieved by pushing off with the toes of your rear foot.

You can improve your jumping height by doing a simple jumping exercise. Stand on an 8 in. high step and step off backward using both of your feet. When your toes hit the ground, jump forward back onto the step. The secret is to press off as speedily as possible as fast as your toes hit the ground. Do at least three to 5 sets of 10-20 of these to boost the rate and height of your vertical jump.
