Introduction To High School Football Recruiting Procedure

By Paula Barron

The high school football recruiting process can be a difficult one when the proper measures are not taken. It may be your dream to play at a collegiate level after going through a lot of sacrifices on the way to the top. You can achieve this goal when you are familiar with the appropriate course of action.

It is a common fact that less than 10 percent of students who play in secondary schools actually manage to get into the academy of their choice. No one can guarantee you an accepted position or full scholarship, no matter what any organization may claim. However, if you work hard enough and follow the right advice you will be able to accomplish your dreams.

This fact does not have to define what you can accomplish by starting ahead and making sure to get good grades. The NCAA has recently increased the number of English and math courses that need to be taken. This will be one major factor when it comes to your eligibility when you are being recruited. A guidance counselor should be consulted for direction.

The NCAA used to be called the clearing house, but now it is known as the NCAA Eligibility Center. This would be the place where a student athlete must register in order to validate their current status. This process is also meant to ensure that you are not being paid to pay for a professional team. You must get this done before your junior year at the latest.

The next step is to put together a list of the schools that you think can help you athletically and in your academics as well. You should make sure to do this before your junior year too in order to get a grasp of which University can truly help you in the future. This is also a great way to see if the sport that you wish to play already has a 2 or more people that play in your position.

Summer camps also have their purposes, in which they help you get better at your chosen sport and also to get you noticed. The coaches at University camps often look to these places to find athletes to fill up their rosters. You should be ready to start networking and getting to know the other students and coaches because building personal relationships can help in this process.

The research process is not to be taken lightly either. When looking up a certain university, you should take the time to see if the sport that you wish to play may already have 2 or more in that same position. If this is so, then it would be in your bets interest to find another position to play or look for another academy.

The first time you contact a college coach should be done in an aggressively friendly manner. This means that you have to write them an email by explaining who are and why you are contacting them. You never know where the first impression may take you. The high school football recruiting system should be easier once you know what the proper procedure is.
