By Rosetta Drake

Many people today have become more conscious about physical fitness. Nowadays, you can see some who often visit the gym to do their routines. If you want to do the same for your fitness, there is really no need to leave the house. You can still exercise without going the gym by doing in home workouts.

Your home makes a good place to do your routines. The environment is more familiar and you are free to do whatever you want. It is a good idea to stay at home especially if you are the type who prefers to be alone. Whether you have exercise equipment or not, the important part is that you are disciplined to do this until you reach your goals.

One kind of exercise you can do is a push up. This one is an oldie but a goodie. You can exercise your arms and muscles by a few on the floor depending on how much your body is capable of. The intensity can be modified by changing hand placements on the floor. There is also the bent knee push up which is a good option if the full push up is hard for you.

Crunches are also pretty common. This is the right exercise to do if you want to strengthen your abdominal muscles. You need not hurry about being able to get your head up. The key is to take time until your muscles begin to stretch. You can also do supine reverse crunch which targets your core region. Be careful with your back on this one.

Squat jumps are also great to exercise the whole body and your heart. These focus on total body movement as you jump and lower your body repeatedly. You can exercise your legs, knees, and buttocks on this one. If you want to focus on your legs, there is the forward lunge. This exercises your thighs and knees.

Walking is of course a form of exercise that almost comes naturally. Whenever you walk around the house, you are already exercising without realizing it. You can simply walk up and down your stairs for this one. Also, you can always jog in place if you want to. This is a very simple routine which allows you to listen to music or watch TV.

If you have your own set of equipment, you can put them to use as well. You may also get your own equipment to do some routines. Some of the equipment you can have at home include dumbbells and a treadmill. Dumbbells are great for increasing muscle strength in your arms. A treadmill also allows you to run a few miles in place.

At present, you can find numerous exercise videos to use. There are a lot of exercise DVDs which are becoming very popular among fitness buffs. An instructor on screen can show you the routines and you can follow along. You can also access videos online and choose routines that are easy for your level.

It would be good if you can start early with your in home workouts. The sooner you start, the more time you have to make improvements. You can go a long way if you start early. When doing exercises, you also have to remember that this is better combined with healthy eating and a change in lifestyle.
